Information: Celebrating its 70th anniversary this is one of the UK's most successful independent, specialist cinemas. Its legendary predecessor, The Cosmo, opened in 1939 in this modernist European building (with clear Dutch influence) which still boasts much of its art deco interior. Archive film screenings between 11am-2pm. This event will include innovative technology from New Media Scotland. Free but ticketed tours to the projection box every 30 minutes, numbers limited to 20. At 2pm Neil Baxter, Secretary and Treasurer of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland will give a lecture - 'The Cinemas of Cinema City - from the Hillhead Salon to the Cosmo' - An exploration of over 30 movie theatres from the dawn of film through the heyday of the movies to the birth of Glasgow's first 'art-house' (and it wasn't the Cosmo!). Free but ticketed. Tickets for both the tours and the talk will be available on the day in the foyer (first come first served basis).
