Information:

Information: Transformed from derelict waste land to a thriving eco hub by a dedicated team of volunteers, this retail venture demonstrates that enterprise and environment can work hand in hand. The charity took on the site, named the Dear Green Place, in October 2008, to provide retail space for reclaimed wood and wood products. It now offers a unique insight into the sustainable regeneration of local urban land. An opportunity to find out about wood recycling, GWR's products, services and volunteer opportunities. For Doors Open Day this year GWC is embarking on a new project to build, at The Dear Green Place, a greenhouse out of reclaimed plastic bottles! Local schools, community groups and individuals are busy gathering two litre plastic bottles. Over 1500 are needed to make the structure so there is an appeal to the public to donate used, clear 2L plastic bottles. This experiemental greenhouse will provide vital growing space for fruit and veg seedlings and to help demonstrate the benefits of reusing materials. To inspire people to build their own greenhouses a team of volunteers will assemble at The Dear Green Place over the Doors Open Day weekend and set about constructing! People are welcome to drop by and watch as it takes shape. If you have 2L plastic bottles to donate please drop them off at The Dear Green Place or contact Martin on 07738002946, info@glasgowwoodrecycling.org.uk.
