Information: A striking Monument commemorating two of the Martyrs of the 1820 Radical Rising, John Baird and Andrew Hardie. Both were charged with treason and executed for their part in the insurrection. Information on the events of 1820 will be available. The monument was renovated in 1986 with funds from Glasgow City Council and the 1820 Society. John Baird and Andrew Hardie, leaders in the Radical War of 1820, are interred in the Cemetery. They were hanged and beheaded in Stirling for treason. Representatives of the 1820 Society will relate the history of the Monument and the part played by Baird and Hardie in the turbulent events of 1820. Meet at the Main Gate 2pm Sunday 18th September.
