The walk will explore locations of recent change and major planning proposals in the City Centre, explaining the context of emerging development which will contribute to its continuing evolution. Glasgow City Centre is a dynamic living organism. Change may be slow but nothing stands still and, in addition to recent change around the City’s core, a number of major sites are on the cusp of development. This tour provides an opportunity for residents to stay abreast of major proposals in the City Centre and we will explain the planning and development context of a number of sites, including emerging new retail proposals on Buchanan Street, redevelopment of the former HBOS offices on Queen Street and the International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone on George Street. Find out about the aspirations of the developers, planners, the City Fathers and other stakeholders as well as the challenges facing them.
