Information: Community Action Team staff from Land and Environmental Services at Glasgow City Council will lead these fascinating Heritage Walks through the historic Glasgow Green. Saturday and Sunday at 12noon & 2pm each day. Glasgow Green has served as the city's central park and meeting place since 1450. Redolent with history, it’s features include the People’s Palace, the restored Doulton Fountain, Maclennan’s Arch, Nelson’s Column and a fascinating sculpture trail. The Council's Park Initiative is centred on twinning Glasgow's Parks and Schools with countries of the Commonwealth as part of the introduction to and legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Among others, Glasgow Green is designated as a Commonwealth Park.
