The Park area of Glasgow
Kelvingrove Park - the Stewart Memorial Fountain
Meeting point: Stewart Memorial Fountain. G3
Information: Arguably the centrepiece and jewel in the crown of Kelvingrove Park the magnificent Stewart Memorial Fountain was designed by Sellars & Mossman in 1872. The restoration in 2009, carried out by Glasgow City Council, includes a water recirculation system to make a greener and more financially sustainable attraction. Extensive stonework restoration and the reintroduction of cast cherubs, missing since 1939, make this a great focus for a walk in the Park! Led by the LES Community Action Team, who will also have available copies of heritage leaflet identifying the scale of the Lock Katrine project.
